In Philosophy, there is no distinction between art and science. All academic subjects are subjects of philosophy. Philosophy is the core. Specialization leaves people in continuous partial understanding. When we are concentrating on the whole we cannot concentrate on the parts and vice versa, thus when concentrating on the parts we cannot comprehend the whole, and the universal truth.  One should know a little about all subjects and not just a lot about one subject in order to have a more complete understanding of existence. All speech and writing is just commentary on existence.

Aristotle wrote all human life is sunk deep in untruth. The world always drifts off into unreason. As Plato wrote the world is illusion. One must turn within oneself to find the reason following one’s self. Following the world and other groups leads to unreason. Reason is the mind coming to understand the good and the universe. One must turn within oneself to find the Truth and the good.  One should conduct one’s life in moderation. Use one’s mind for reason and use logic to come to correct conclusions. One should control one’s appetites. This is the good life.Even today the life of Socrates, the life of the philosopher, is the good life and the best life amid all the advanced technology. One who lives the same as Socrates like a wise owl lives the wisest and best life.
