The universities are businesses seeking to expand their wealth and power as much as possible. They constantly try to build new buildings, gain more money, and increase enrollments at the expense of the quality of education. Students do not attend universities to learn but to attain a high income job. The universities do a lousy job teaching as they are inefficient and waste time and money. The explosive expansion of the University of Nevada , Reno is a case in point. Universities will teach only one doctrine of liberalism and ignore other philosophies. Faculty will hire only liberals who conform to their views and the beauraucracy.
The universities lower standards in order to increase enrollments and accumulate money to expand.
Universities are preoccupied with sociability and cater demands to increase vocational training at the expense of education.Universities promote mediocrity, intellectual irrelevance and waste time, no one needs four years in a university , much less 13 years in public school to be educated. They promote moral relativism which defeats the purpose of education. The students do not want to be educated, most are uneducable. The students become bored and resentful with the lousy system they are told to attend for their own good and only cooperate with the false promise of getting a job that will make them more money. Most students do not attain the wealth or career the University promises.
Universities should be defunded and become smaller. Establish separate trade schools for students with the sole interest of making money, and limit the university courses to the humanities and sciences. Those whose incentive is to learn and not make money will be attracted to a university and possibly acquire a liberal education. Universities are a reflection of the larger society. And the society of the United States is extremely in favor of business, the pursuit of wealth no matter the costs, and cultural relativism. There is only one party in the United States, the business party.
